Abstract
Plant sterols in tobacco leaves can generate the carcinogen-polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the combustion process of cigarette. In this article, the roles of plant sterols in tobacco harm reduction research, the regulation of plant growth and development, and the response to plant stress were primarily discussed, and the plant sterol biosynthetic pathway and key enzymes in this pathway were mainly introduced.
