Breeding of Flue-cured Tobacco Variety Longjiang981 and its Characteristics

The new flue-cured tobacco variety Longjiang981 was developed via directional selection through traditional cross breeding technology with Longjiang912 as the female parent and CV87 as the male parent.The genetic traits of Longjiang981 were stable and the plants grew uniformly and vigorously in the field.It was easy to cure.Longjiang981 was resistant to PVY, moderately resistant to brown spot and Granville wilt, yet moderately susceptible toblank shank, TMV,CMV and root-knot nematode.Compared with the control variety NC89,the leaf yield,yield value,average price and ratio of high class leaf of Longjiang981 increased by 16.78%,31.32%,13.28% and 9.85%,respectively. Longjiang981 had a better cured leaf quality with balanced chemical composition,and better met the requirements of tobacco industry.With higher quality,resistance,yield and wide adaptability. Longjiang981 is suitable for China's northern tobacco growing areas.
