Study on the Suitable Transplanting Time of Flue-cured Tobacco Variety Honghuadajinyuan in Western Areas of Fujian

In order to define the suitable transplanting time of flue-cured tobacco variety Honghuadajinyuan in western areas of Fujian, field trials were carried out to study the effects of transplanting time on growth, yield and quality of tobacco. The results showed that when transplanted on 12th January, tobacco plants had a field growth period of 149 days, which could meet the need of field growth with fresh weight and dry weight of above ground parts being the highest. Single leaf weight, yield, output value, average price and the percentage of upper and middle grade leaves were significantly better than that of the other treatments. The main chemical composition of tobacco leaves was also more harmonious. Sensory tests suggested that relatively early transplanting was good for improving smoking quality with better manifestation of the delicious aroma style, sweeter taste, more and better quality aroma.
