Breeding of a New Burley Tobacco Variety Chuanbai 2 and its Evaluation

A new burley tobacco variety named Chuanbai 2 was obtained by cross-breeding of MsVA1061 and Dasuo26 in Dazhou tobacco company. It was certified in April 2015 by the National Tobacco Variety Examination and Approval Committee. It grew vigorously and uniformly in the field with a good number of useful leaves. As for main economic traits and physical characteristics, it performed better than the control variety Eyan 1. It was equivalent to the control variety on appearance quality. It displayed harmonious internal chemical components and smoking quality. It performed a resistance to Tobacco Mosaic Virus and tobacco black shank. It was expected that Chuanbai2 would get better economic effect by producing a higher yield, better quality and higher disease resistance than other varieties.
