Analysis of Regional Variation and Major Varieties of Flue-cured Tobacco Planted in China in the Twenty-first Century

The changes of flue-cured tobacco planting areas and the main cultivars since 2001were analyzed, and the evolution of the main varieties of flue-cured tobacco were analyzed. The results showed that the major tobacco growing areas were in the southwest area. The major flue-cured tobacco cultivars were unitary and had been grown for a long time. The genetic background of the major flue-cured tobacco cultivars was narrow. It is very urgent to cultivate new flue-cured tobacco varieties which can show the local features.
