    Isolation and Anti-HepG2 Activity Study of α-cembratriene-diol from Tobacco

    • To investigate the anti-tumour activities of α-2,7,11-cembratriene-4,6-diol (α-CBD) from tobacco,we isolated α-CBD from tobacco flowers.HepG2 cells were incubated with different concentrations of α-CBD in vitro.The inhibition rate on cell proliferation was determined with methylthiazolyldiphenyl-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay and colony formation assay.The change of morphology was observed with inverted microscope after Giemsa's staining.The results indicated that,α-CBD from tobacco exhibited obvious inhibitive effects on the growth and colony forming rate of HepG2 cells.Typical morphology changes of apoptosis were observed.In summary,α-CBD from tobacco showed anti-tumor effects on HepG2 cells,which would have high value of further development and utilization.
