Green Extraction of Two Target Tobacco Phenolic Compounds Using Deep Eutectic Solvents

    • In order to expand the application of the emerging green solvent called deep eutectic solvents (DES), eleven different DES were used as extraction solvents for two phenolic compounds in tobacco leaves and then the best extraction conditions were determined through single factor test and orthogonal test. Finally, solid phase extraction columns were used to separate phenolic compounds from deep eutectic solvents. The results showed that under the condition of microwave at 50℃, using choline chloride/malic acid as solvents, 40% (V/V) of water as co-solvents, within 30 minutes, a total of (16.95±0.69), (8.53±0.52) mg/g chlorogenic acid, rutin were extracted respectively. Finally, the recovery of phenolic compounds from DES by macroporous adsorption resins was also investigated. Recovery rates of chlorogenic acid, rutin reached 91.67% and 99.81%, respectively. By comparing with convertional extraction solvents for phenolic compounds, DESs were shown to have great potential as green extraction and composition analysis solvents for bio-active ingredients.
