Abstract: A new flue-cured variety Lanyu 1 (LY-1) was developed by systematic selection from a mutant of K326 which was planting in field with a heavy incidence of Tobacco Mosaic Virus. Results showed that the new variety LY-1 had good adaptability, grew uniformly and strongly in field, favored mature, and was easy to cure. Many of the cured leaves were in orange color, strong to deep color intensity, and were rich in oil, with loose to slightly loose structure, the appearance of better quality. LY-1 had the favorable and well-proportioned chemical composition and better internal quality. It had the strong tolerance to water logging and cold, and had high resistance to TMV, and strong comprehensive resistance. In conclusion, LY-1 is a new variety with good comprehensive characters.
