Analysis on Difference of Yield, Quality and Aroma Style of Flue-cured Tobacco at Various Altitudes in Enshi

Abstract
Field experiment were conducted at altitudes of 500, 900 and 1300 m in Enshi Prefecture of Hubei to study difference of yield, quality and aroma-style of flue-cured tobacco K326, Yunyan87, and Zhongyan103. The results showed that yield and quality of every variety were significantly different among the three altitudes. The aroma-style of 9 combinations of altitude and varieties were classified as 4 groups by discrimination analysis, 2 samples were classified as faint aroma type, 3 as full aroma type, 3 as neutral tend to full aroma type, 1 as neutral aroma type. Overall, altitude of 900 m in Enshi was the most suitable area for tobacco production, followed by altitude of 1300 m. K326-900 m and Yunyan87-900 m were the best combinations of altitude and varieties, followed by combinations of Yunyan 87-500 m, Yunyan 87-1300 m and Zhongyan 103-1300 m.
