Abstract
Xiangyan 4 (previously CY9506), a new flue-cured tobacco variety was developed from the cross between (Zhongyan90×Yunyan315) (female parent) and G80 (male parent), passed the evaluation of National Tobacco Variety Evaluation Committee in November, 2010. The variety had stable genetic character, reasonable group structure. The leaves yellowed and ripened well and easily, and were easy to cure. Xiangyan4 was resistant to black shank, moderately resistant to bacterial wilt, brown spot, root-knot and CMV, yet moderately susceptible to TMV, susceptible to PVY. The variety was adapted to southeast China tobacco growing regions. The appearance quality, chemical components and sensory evaluation of Xiangyan4 were similar to the control variety K326. The induced diseases occurrence and economic properties were evidently superior to that of K326.
