Breeding and Characteristics of a New Flue-cured Tobacco Variety Xingyan No. 1

Xingyan No. 1 is a new multi-leaf flue-cured tobacco variety which was systematically bred from the multi-leaf mutant individual strains in Yunyan 85 tobacco field by Qianxinan tobacco company of Guizhou province to achieve the goal of “reducing nicotine, adjusting structure”. It has a strong growth, a good agronomic adaptability and more leaves. It is beneficial to regulate the leaf number. During the maturity period. It is easy to harvest and to be cured since its leaves mature layer by layer. Its yield is relatively high and economic character is superior to K326. The chemical components of cured leaves are suitable and well proportional. Its leaf appearance and smoking quality complies with the requirement of cigarette industries, thus, there is high extension potential.
