Preliminary Study on Optimum Sowing and Transplanting Dates of BES NO H382 Cigar in Enshi

Cigar tobacco is a major raw material of high quality cigars. Field experiments were carried to investigate the optimum sowing and transplanting dates of an introduced Indonesian BES NO H382 cigar in Enshi prefecture, Hubei province. The results showed that the most suitable sowing period was between February 28th and March 8th, and the most suitable transplanting period was between April 30th and May 10th. These findings provide key data for production of this cigar tobacco in Hubei.
