Abstract: Guiyan 205 is a male-sterile F1 hybrid flue-cured tobacco cultivar developed through hybrid breeding, with MS K730 as the female parent and Guiyan 2 as the male parent. It was approved by the National Tobacco Variety Approval Committee in November 2025. Guiyan 205 exhibits vigorous plant growth in the field, distinct sequential yellowing and favorable curing characteristics. It possesses strong drought tolerance at the seedling stage, moderate resistance to black shank, and resistance to weather fleck. Its economic traits are superior to those of Yunyan 87. The appearance quality of cured tobacco leaves is better than that of K326, and the main chemical components are within suitable ranges with good coordination. Its sensory quality is medium to high grade, and the comprehensive sensory quality is comparable to the control K326. Guiyan 205 is an excellent new flue-cured tobacco variety with strong resistance to disease and stress, excellent economic traits, and good balance of yield, quality and resistance. Guiyan 205 is suitable for planting in the middle and high altitude tobacco areas of Southwest China.
