Abstract:
Guiyan19 was a new flue-cured tobacco variety developed by systematic breeding method after a variant was found in Yunyan97. The plant of Guiyan19 grew uniformly and was tube-shaped, with the average topping height of 104.82 cm, and the number of available leaves of 21.00, and its field growth stage was 128.30 days. Guiyan19 was moderately resistant to black shank disease, bacterial wilt disease and southern root knot nematode disease, moderately sensitive to brown spot disease and TMV, sensitive to CMV and PVY, with comprehensive resistance similar to K326. The leaves of Guiyan19 were easy to cure, and its synthetic economic traits were slightly superior to K326. Guiyan19 exhibited similar appearance quality of cured leaves to K326 and Yunyan87, while better physical properties than the main control K326 and comparable to the secondary control Yunyan87, respectively. It had favorable content of chemical components, consistent flavor style with K326 and Yunyan87, yet superior overall sensory quality than the control K326 and Yunyan87. The overall quality was comparable to the main control K326 and better than the secondary control Yunyan87. Guiyan19 proved to boast high quality, proper yield, multi-resistance, and is suitable for planting in tobacco growing areas at middle or low altitude of Southwest China.
