Abstract: Yueyan208 is a male sterile hybrid breed of flue-cured tobacco developed with MS89X as the female parent and 98-39-1 as the male parent. It was approved by the National Tobacco Variety Approval Committee in June 2017. In the field the variety grew neatly and uniformly with strong vigor, and the leaves showed layered yellowing, and were easy to cure. The variety showed middle resistance to bacterial wilt, black shank and root-knot nematode disease, middle sensitivity to TMV and CMV, and was susceptible to brown spot disease and PVY. The comprehensive economic traits were better than the control variety K326, and lower than the vice-control variety Yunyan 87. The color of the cured tobacco leaves was mainly golden yellow, some were yellow, the structure was loose, the chemical composition was more harmonious, and the sensory quality was comparable to that of K326. It is a new flue-cured tobacco variety that showed good yield, quality and disease resistance and is suitable for planting in the southeast region of China.
